March 2, 2011

Last week I convened a workshop on the history, philosophy and future of ethology. The first day’s programme weaved philosophy, Egyptology, zoömusicology, neuroscience, and biosemiotics, and culminated with a performance by the sublime Hollis Taylor of her “songs of the Australian pied butcherbird for violin and field recordings”.

Here she is, from Song Maps, with wings – though she had them already.
